Her mother Sonia Alane had left him at the age of nine. Baker along with his father moved to Denver in the United States, and they stayed at the house of his father's Aunt. Baker was bullied because the poorness of his life by the other kids. His first exposure to rap was when he entered sixth grade. Before making the move to Bad Boy Records Baker released four mixtapes between 2007 and 2010. The Cleveland rapper who penned lyrics at the pace of a bullet speeding through the air experienced an explosive growth when at the end of 2011, Baker made the switch from self-released tracks to well-known label. From there his career skyrocketed every album charting among the top ten.
